Coach Phil McCarter Named Fort Mill High Varsity Soccer Coach

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 12, 2017

Coach Phil McCarter has been named the new Fort Mill High School Varsity Coach effective immediately. McCarter previously coached for the Gold Hill Middle School soccer team and has coached at Discoveries Soccer Club for the past five years.

McCarter brings his love of the game and passionate coaching style to Fort Mill High through his wealth of experience and drive to further his coaching education. McCarter has spent long hours on and off the pitch furthering his knowledge of the game, even spending time this past year in England as one of 20 US coaches training at St. George’s Park.

McCarter has been with DSC for the past five years coaching a variety of boys teams for the club. His desire to make them succeed on and off the field is what drives him to continue coaching. “I want to teach them to love the game and take life lessons off the field as well. We focus on the team mentality which makes them better on and off the pitch,” said Coach McCarter.

“We are very excited for Phillip and look forward to seeing his impact on this program right away. Phillip being placed in this role is exciting for DSC because we see the partnership that our club continues to grow with Ft. Mill and other local school systems. Their kids are our kids, so to have this opportunity to focus even more on player development together is a great step for both organizations. Phillip’s passion and professionalism is so important to be successful in this game and we are proud to have him on our staff,” said Dave Carton, Executive Director.

We wish Coach McCarter all the best as he enters his new venture at Fort Mill High. He hopes to be competitive in the region as well as be good ambassadors of the game. “I am extremely excited, honored, and blessed to have been selected to be the next head coach of the Fort Mill High School Men’s Varsity Soccer program.  I look forward to leading Fort Mill into becoming one of the best overall soccer programs in the region and in the state.  Go Jackets,” said Coach McCarter.
