Davis Hooten Commits to Michigan State

Discoveries Soccer Club is delighted to announce Davis Hooten, 98 Premier Gold, has accepted a spot to play for Michigan State University. Michigan State finished #13 in the NCAA polls for 2016 with wins over Notre Dame, Akron and Michigan.

Davis has been a goalkeeper at DSC since he was 6 years old, he is now 17, and played on DSC 99 Green for five years and DSC 98 Premier for the last 3 years. He also loved playing with his older brother Parker’s team (DSC 96 green), on a DSC sponsored trip to Italy & Switzerland several years ago.

Davis is in the top 3% of his class at Northwestern High School, in the full IB program, Junior Marshall, Olympian, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, SC Boy’s State Nominee.  He plays varsity soccer for NHS and has been All-Region & All-Area for the past 2 years, also serving as a captain last season.

“He has always enjoyed playing for DSC and has had some wonderful coaches including Abdou Senbel, Manfred Makor, Dave Carton, Dom Wren, and Graham Stafford. He attended Michigan State ID camps and loved his experience there.  Felt like a perfect fit and the coaches connected with him in the same way.  He was offered a roster spot and accepted in March,” said Denise Hooten.

“We are very happy for Davis and his family. Davis has been with the club a long time and we can safely say Davis has been one of the best players we have ever had, His performance level is consistently high and his dedication to better himself has separated him from the pack over the years. We will watch Davis career develop and hopefully Michigan State will not be the last stop in Davis’ soccer adventure. The Hooten’s have always been excellent representatives of DSC and I have always appreciated their support of both me personally and professionally. Best wishes to all, we are very proud of you,” said Dave Carton, Executive Director.
